WHO WE ARE

Norwich and Central Norfolk Mind is a Registered Charity in England and Wales and a Company Limited by Guarantee in England.

We were established in 1966 by a group of people who wanted to greatly improve mental health care in Norfolk by challenging the traditional large institutional model that was dominant at the time. This group led by the UK's first female Psychiatric Social Worker, Cicely McCall, MBE, established the first group homes in the country. We have always tried to maintain this courageous and pioneering spirit at the heart of what we do. You might like to view the Brief History of Norwich Mind  which expands upon our history.

We have always been affiliated to Mind and, as such, form part of a national federation of independent organisations called Local Mind Associations. We participate in Mind's quality system and are also monitored and accredited by Investors in People, Care Quality Commission and Supporting People.  We are committed to being a high quality and innovative provider of mental health care in Norfolk and we work very closely with many other organisations
